The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) is introducing new legislation for the Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF). These regulations impact all exchanges operating in NZ. This legislation requires Swyftx to collect the tax residency information from our New Zealand customers.
From 1 April 2026, you will see a pop up or banner on your dashboard within the Swyftx platform.
What information is required
In this form, you will be able to select your primary and secondary (if you have one) tax residency country and input your IRD Number. If you do not have, or are not required to have, an IRD Number, you will be able to select the reason for this on the form.
